Dress Code

Please note that apparel can be purchased at any local retailers such as Old Navy, Walmart, Carters, etc.

 

The dress code at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Elementary School consists of the following:

 

TOPS:

  • A navy or white, short-sleeved or long-sleeved collared shirt or blouse
  • A plain white, long-sleeved collared button-up shirt
  • A plain white or navy long-sleeved turtleneck shirt
  • Solid navy, zippered fleece or solid navy, hooded sweatshirt
  • Any St. Gabriel’s “Spirit Wear” which includes St. Gabriel’s branded tops, and any club or team tops purchased through the school
  • Full-Day Kindergarten students only – a plain navy or white t-shirt (no collar required)

*All of the preceding should be logo free or be crested with the approved logos only.

 

BOTTOMS:

  • Navy or khaki uniform like pants or navy or khaki sweatpants
  • Any St. Gabriel’s “Spirt Wear” bottoms purchased through the school
  • Navy or khaki walking shorts (mid-thigh length) or skorts (mid-thigh length)
  • Navy or khaki skirts with tights, leggings, or shorts worn underneath

 

DRESSES OR JUMPERS:

  • Navy, khaki or white collared dresses with tights, leggings or shorts worn underneath
  • Navy or khaki jumpers with a uniform top and tights, leggings or shorts worn underneath
Modifications to the components of the school dress code will be deemed to comply with the school dress code policy where necessary, to accommodate students with special needs.

Students who choose to not adhere to the dress code or dress inappropriately will be advised and will have to change their clothes. If necessary, a parent will be called to arrange a change of clothing.

 

DRESS DOWN DAYS:

These will be the last Friday of the month, and at all school related activities where uniforms are not required, students are expected to adhere to the following dress code:

  • Promotes a Catholic learning environment that is consistent with the Ontario Catholic Schools’ values
  • Uses criteria of safety considerations, maintenance of proper decorum, cleanliness, and appropriateness in relation to activity
  • Includes prohibitions around clothing that promotes alcohol, drugs or illegal activities, or clothing with messages or pictures printed or drawn, in any language, that is related to any harassment of any individual because of race, ethnic origin, religion, creed, disability, gender or sexual orientation.

 

THEME DAYS:

These will be approximately 1 per month and will be communicated to the school community. Theme days will celebrate holidays, special days, cultural days or days planned by Student Parliament.
