About Our School
St. Gabriel is the LDCSB’s newest elementary school that is opening in September of 2024. It is located in NorthWest London, ON. To start the 2024-2025, we will be sharing space at St. Catherine of Siena located at 2140 Quarrier Road. In January 2025, we will be moving into our new facility located on Buroak Drive, near Hyde Park Road and Sunningdale Road. In anticipation of the move during the school year, classes of St. Gabriel students will be created, who will move as a group to the new school along with their educators. Planning is well underway for the 460 + students we will be welcoming in September.
The Ontario Curriculum (mandated by the Ministry of Education), alongside the Catholic Graduate Expectations provide the framework from which all planning begins. The school provides a range of support services (e.g. Speech and Language, Program Support Teacher, psychometric testing) to assist students with learning difficulties.

Our Patron Saint
After following the Naming of Schools consultation process, St. Gabriel was chosen to be name of our school. The angel St. Gabriel serves as a messenger for God. St. Gabriel announced the good news to Mary, the Mother of God, saying, "Mary, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women." Luke 1:28. St. Gabriel helps teachers, writers and artists share their messages with clarity and meaning.
Facilities
Our new school is being built with a capacity of 507 students. We are so looking forward to opening the physical building in January of 2025. Click here to see the latest photos of the St. Gabriel school site.
Living Our Faith
The staff and students of St. Gabriel will have many opportunities to pray and demonstrate their Catholic faith. These include school-wide and classroom liturgies, the collaboration with our Parish in the celebration of the Sacraments of First Eucharist and Reconciliation in grade two and the Sacrament of Confirmation in grade eight.
Transportation Information
Bussing will be available for students who qualify. Since we are starting the year at St. Catherine of Siena, your home address will be used for eligibility requirements while we are on their site. Following the move of locations, your home address will be used for eligibility requirements to St. Gabriel. For information on transportation please see the My Big Yellow Bus website at www.mybigyellowbus.ca
Principals Message
I am blessed to be the first Principal of the London District Catholic School Board’s newest elementary school St. Gabriel! This is an exciting time for the LDCSB, but more specifically the St. Catherine of Siena and St. Gabriel school communities as this much needed facility is being built. St. Catherine of Siena has been dealing with over enrollment for several years and our new building will aid in addressing this which will benefit students, families, and staff of both schools.
While we will be opening our school in September, the new building will not be ready for occupancy until January 2025. We will be setting up our school on the St. Catherine of Siena site and will be physically moving mid year. The plan is that students and their educators will stay together and move into their new classroom once the new school is ready. We will follow all the routines currently in place at St. Catherine of Siena until the new year. However, come September 2024 we will begin the process of shaping our school community from setting up a new school council, establishing codes of conduct, uniform policy…etc.
The new school plan is nothing short of amazing and I can’t wait to work with everyone to make a fantastic space into a terrific community! While I am sure there will be some challenges as we navigate this transition together, I am so appreciative of everyone’s understanding, flexibility and support as we move mid year into a phenomenal space. I am very thankful and grateful to be working alongside the administration and staff at St. Catherine of Siena as this all unfolds. The whole community has been welcoming and understanding as we split one school community into two.
We very much look forward to opening our new school in September and our facility in January!
Yours in Catholic Education,
Mr. Geoff Moore
